Dr. Cary T. Roberts
Biography
- Cary Turner Roberts, Ph.D., came to
Lynchburg in fall of 2000 to join her husband, Robert C. Roberts, CEO of EDM. Dr. Roberts moved from Marietta, GA, where she had recently retired as a Professor of English from
Kennesaw
State
University .
- She had been a member of the Atlanta Symphony Guild; a member of the chancel choir at Marietta First Presbyterian Church, where she was also an Elder, an adult Sunday School teacher, a member of the Presbytery’s Committee on Ministry, and a Commissioned Lay Preacher.
- In Lynchburg, she joined the Newcomers’ Club; became active in AAUW, and was elected President for two years in 2005; joined the Board of the Friends of the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra, where she served for three years; sang with the Jefferson Choral Society for several years and served on their Board 2005-07; was elected to the LSO Board in 2006 and to a two-year term as President in Jan. of 2007, which term concluded May 31, 2009.
- She served the next year on the Executive Committee of the LSO as Past President. She was elected to the Board of the
Academy of
Fine arts and began service in January, 2010.
- An active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, she serves as an Elder, sings in the choir, and teaches with an adult Sunday School team.

She is an advocate of and volunteer for the United Way of
Central VA , where she is currently serving her second year overseeing the Leadership area of the Campaign Cabinet.
