Earned Income Tax Credit

As described on the Internal Revenue Service website, “the earned income credit (EIC) is a tax credit for certain people who work and have earned income less than:

  • $11,490 ($12,490 if married filing jointly) if there is no qualifying child
  • $30,338 ($31,338 if married filing jointly) if there is one qualifying child
  • $34,458 ($35,458 if married filing jointly) if there is more than one qualifying child."

You cannot be married filing separately. A tax credit usually means more money in your pocket. It reduces the amount of taxes you owe. The EIC may also give you a refund.

We encourage eligible families to take advantage of this tax credit opportunity. The credit is an opportunity to increase your family’s budget to cover your basic needs, your children’s school needs, or other important items to benefit your family.

For more information about the EIC, visit the IRS Earned Income Tax Credit page   or call 1-800-TAX-1040.
