Emergency Food & Shelter Program
The counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell, as well as, Lynchburg City will receive State Set-Aside funding from Phase 28 of the Emergency Food & Shelter Program National Board. The awards are as follows: Amherst County $29,446; Appomattox County $3,500; Bedford County $7,220; Campbell County $64,687; Lynchburg $4,519. The awards are to be used to supplement and extend emergency food and shelter programs under the Emergency Food & Shelter National Board Program which serve individuals and families residing in the respective jurisdictions.
A local board will determine how the funds awarded to the specified jurisdictions are distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service organizations in the area.
Under the terms of the grant from the National Board, local governmental or private voluntary organizations chosen to receive funds must be non-profit,, have an accounting system, practice non-discrimination, have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter services and if they are a private voluntary organization, they must have a voluntary board.
