Grow One

Grow One is United Way of Central Virginia's innovative week-long entrepreneurial and leadership summer camp. Rising seventh graders from the Central Virginia area were nominated to participate in this camp, which provides an opportunity to explore all facets of running a business. They meet local entrepreneurs, tour businesses, interact with local leaders and learn how to start and run an actual business. The curriculum includes lessons in consumer, economic and personal finance in addition to learning leadership, communication and team building skills.

During the week, students also experience college life, staying in a dorm room with a roommate, eating in the dining hall and using the computer lab. The camp concludes with a marketplace, in which the participants present, market and sell the product or service they've developed.
