Select Your Projects!

Now that you have organized project teams according to abilities, interests, and schedules and identified team captains, it’s time to find the perfect project to match.

The project listing will go live on the DOC website on Monday, March 17, 2008. Make your selections, and submit your project request form(s) as soon as possible. Here are a few reminders about project selection:

  •   Projects will be confirmed on a first come first serve basis. Most projects will go within the first 1-3 days they are available, so you need to be quick in your selection! Final project selections should be completed by , April 23, 2008 so we can notify the agencies prior to the Matching Breakfast..
  • If the project description includes a list of materials, the agency requests you (the volunteer group) to supply and bring those items. Please do not sign up for these projects if you are unable to provide the requested items.
  • Project descriptions are provided by the agencies, and they have been encouraged to include as much detail as possible for you to make a selection. If you have questions about a project, please call the agency contact listed in the description, but do not sign up for a project by contacting the agency. Project selections made through the DOC website are the only selections that will be honored.
  • Fill out a separate project selection form for each project. For example, if you are signing up for 4 projects, submit 4 project request forms.
  • If you have a large number of employees participating who have not separated into smaller groups, you may want to assign them to more manageable-sized teams. Most projects ask for 4-6 volunteers, not 15-20.
  • If a project you select has already been chosen by another company prior to your submission, United Way will contact you to make arrangements for an available project similar to your first choice.

When you have decided on your project(s), please claim your selection online by filling out the Project Selection Form at unitedwaycv.org/pages/doc-registration.htm.

You will receive a project confirmation email once United Way receives your requests. Your selections will be posted on your company’s DOC web page (see #4 for details).

Each company will have a web page within the DOC website where coordinators and team leaders can access DOC information specific to their company. The personalized webpage will include project selections, number of volunteers committed to DOC, number of Matching Breakfast attendees, number of DOC lunch attendees, and other pertinent information. To access the company webpage click here and then click on your company’s name.
