Success By 6 is an early childhood initiative based on the principles of
collaboration and prevention. Community leaders from business,
government, education, health and human service agencies and others
work together to achieve our community vision that “all children will
be prepared to succeed when they enter school.”
The Success By 6 initiative is in over 330 communities nationwide
and in Canada. While each community’s priorities and strategies are
unique, the overarching goals are to raise awareness about early
childhood development, improve access to health and human services,
and advocate for public policies that improve the lives of children
and families.
The Central Virginia Success By 6 initiative serves the counties of
Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell, and the cities of Lynchburg
and Bedford.
Our strategies include:
- Enhancing the quality of area child care through the
establishment of standards of care and greater emphasis on improving
language and social skills.
- Empowering parents to meet the developmental needs of their
children by creating and expanding parenting resources and improving
parents’ access to resources and services.
