Forum on Child And Family Statistics

Council For Professional Recognition
- The Council works to improve the
professional status of early childhood workers and helps to meet the
growing need for qualified child care staff.

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
- The nation's largest organization of early childhood professionals
and others dedicated to improving the quality of early childhood
education programs for children birth through age eight.

- Provides information on programs and practices that are effective in
helping children, families, and communities.

- National Resource Center for Health and Safety in Child Care
- Focus on promoting health and safety in child care settings. Provides
information on Virginia’s child care licensure regulations, including child day
care centers, family day homes, and religiously exempted child day centers. Also
provides a very comprehensive list of child care links.
- Virginia State Licensing Program
- Department of Social Services Information on licensure requirements in VA. Also
provides information on training workshops available.
- National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
- National organization of early childhood educators. Provides information on
NAEYC accreditation, including a readiness survey.

- Helps institutions, communities and

- Dedicated to
the protection and recovery of missing, abused and exploited children.

The Early Care and Education Collaborative
- A multi-year project
of five state based child advocacy organizations and five national
organizations working on child care issues. The project's purpose is
to design and implement strategic public education strategies aimed at
creating the public will in each of the target states to expand both
